S.S.A. is a new company. However, the founders of S.S.A. started the technology of building mathematical models for estimating crop yield parameters based on remote sensing data back in 2016, and over the past seven years, work has been underway to improve both the models and other aspects of the estimation related to measuring yield and other crop parameters. During these years, the technology that is now used by the S.S.A. has been used in practice many times and has proven its accuracy and practical applicability. The team that created the S.S.A. has been working together to improve the technology and algorithmize it since 2021.

As a result, the S.S.A. performs with a high accuracy (up to 90-95% and the possibility of improvement), predicting the value of biological yield, determining the density of the stem. It also provides:

  • Estimation of the actual biological yield of the crop in the field at the time of the assessment, during the vegetation

  • Forecast of the actual biological yield of the crop, which will help to optimize the costs associated with harvesting, transportation and storage of the crop

  • Estimation of plants density

  • Visualization of crop condition variation

  • Visualization of productive zones of the field and yield on it based on clustering, zonal statistics

  • Refinement/calculation of fertilizer doses on the field for fertilization to obtain the planned yield, based on an assessment of the heterogeneity of crop development, which reduces production costs and increases yields

  • If the initial data are available, digital mapping of the content of mobile forms of nutrients in soils and plants, including the distribution of total nitrogen in the upper leaves of plants

  • Determining the suitability of soils for growing crops

  • Weather monitoring with notification of unfavorable weather conditions, their values and dates of occurrence

  • Determination of cropped areas on fields

Our advantages

The involvement of S.S.A. eliminates human errors in yield estimation and ensures control over the condition of fields in any circumstances, during quarantine, war, natural disasters, etc. The S.S.A. provides an estimate not +/- infinity, but +/- 5%-10% of the actual biological yield in the worst and most unknown conditions, during the first year of cooperation, trying to reduce the error in the following years.

Cooperation with the S.S.A. will allow banks financing agricultural producers to know for sure what gross yield can be obtained on the fields of the financed producer.

Cooperation with S.S.A. allows brokers, agro-insurers and agro- reinsurers to conclude and execute crop insurance contracts with yield guarantee (MPCI or Hail Yield Guarantee Crop insurance), not just parametric (index) insurance contracts.

If necessary, the report may include not only the actual yield and gross yield of the crop, but also the dates of the adverse weather events that led to the drop in yields and their indicators: wind speed, etc.

Thus, S.S.A. can perform both pre-insurance assessment of seedlings and crop damage assessment.

Cooperation with S.S.A. allows to control indicators when concluding Area Yield Index Insurance contracts.

Cooperation with the S.S.A. will allow traders to know for sure what gross yield can be obtained from the fields or in the area/s that they have in focus for the purchase of the crop.

Cooperation with the S.S.A. will allow input suppliers to know what kind of harvest their customers will produce, to whom they extend credit for plant protection products, fertilizers, or fuel.

Working with the S.S.A. will allow governments or NGOs to know what crops will be available in disaster-affected areas and, therefore, how much will be missing.

We work with both field and perennial crops (fruit crops in the short term 2023), open field vegetables and grapes in the long term 2024, etc.

The S.S.A. can handle tasks of any size.

The S.S.A. performs these works on the basis of geospatial data, remote sensing data, meteorological data, and other data obtained from optical, meteorological, and SAR satellites. To calculate and evaluate the parameters of field and perennial crops, S.S.A. use models of its own development and heterogeneous satellite data, including high spatial resolution imagery, if necessary.

Accuracy of the yield estimation by S.S.A

During the activity of our team, the best accuracy of biological yield estimation by field had an error of 0.5% (winter wheat, 2018). When estimating yields for various crops located in Ukraine, the error of the S.S.A. in estimating yields for 2022 ranges from 7.5-5.5%. Starting to estimate yields of various crops outside of Ukraine, in the first year we expect an error of 10% to 0.5% per field, improving it each new season.

So far, S.S.A. and the team have been working in Ukraine. And we would be happy to build our success story at home, where we have had all the necessary components, but the war with russia changed our plans. Well, we are ready to become stronger.
