project, which is implemented by the All-Ukrainian Association of Communities with the support of the USAID AGRO Program.

The innovation consists in the introduction of a sorbent — an organic hydrogel product that allows you to retain moisture in the soil, and after use breaks down into nutrients for feeding. This solution is new for Ukrainian farmers, but it is well known in Japan, India, and arid regions of EU countries and the USA.

“More than 50 companies and individuals from the island of Okinawa (Japan) joined forces so that Ukrainian farmers farming in the risky farming zone could receive 5,120 kg of sorbent for free and increase the possible yield in the areas most affected by the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP. Thanks to the innovative product provided by our partners from Japan, 125 farmers of Kherson region and Mykolaiv region will be able to at least partially solve the issue of lack of water for irrigation,” said Ivan Slobodianyk , executive director of the All-Ukrainian Community Association.

The sorbent, called EF Polymer, is an environmentally friendly product made from organic waste such as fruit peels. Thanks to the hydrogel consistency, it retains moisture in the soil, gradually releasing it to the plant. In this way, the sorbent allows to reduce the use of water by 40%. In addition, the product is 100% biodegradable and turns into fertilizer, helping to save up to 20% on fertilizer.

According to the feedback of Japanese and European farmers, such an innovative solution allows to increase the yield in arid regions by 10-30%. The results of its application in Ukraine will be studied by experts from the Institute of Climate-oriented Agriculture of the National Academy of Sciences, as well as by farmers from Kherson region and Mykolaiv region.

© Yulia Nemtseva , Kurkul.com, 2023

For the first time in Ukraine, agribusinesses of the Kherson region and the Mykolaiv region will use an innovative solution to preserve moisture in the soil and organic plant nutrition.…

For the first time, Ukrainian farmers will use an innovative solution to combat droughts - Survey Satellite Agro
For the first time in Ukraine, agribusinesses of the Kherson region and the Mykolaiv region will use an innovative solution to preserve moisture in the soil and

1

post-23970","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news
["GET
