According to Conab monitoring data, as of October 1, soybean sowing in Brazil was carried out on 4% of the planned area (+2% for the week) compared to 5% a year earlier.
Field work is currently being carried out in the states of Paraná and Mato Grosso, however, due to difficult weather conditions and dry soil, local farmers are forced to somewhat restrain the pace of sowing.
The country is also sowing the first crop of corn (in particular, in the states of Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul), which as of the reporting date was completed on 23% of the planned area (+5% per week), which corresponds to the result of last year.
Wheat sowing has been completed on 35% of the planned areas (+6% for the week), which is ahead of last year’s results (22%). At the same time, experts record cases of plant diseases in Rio Grande do Sul, Parana and São Paulo due to unfavorable climatic conditions.
