Thanks to raw materials from Ukraine, Romania takes the leading places in terms of oil sales in Europe, and Turkey increases the production of flour from Ukrainian wheat. The expert of agricultural markets, Ivan Stefanyshyn, told about it, Espresso. Zahid reports .
“The blockade of the border with Poland, of course, causes us significant losses. However, if we talk about the export of grain and oilseeds, it is now quite successfully going through the Black Sea Corridor. A lot also goes through Romania and to Romania. Romania is a very good example. They work fruitfully, importing sunflowers from Ukraine, and even ask for more. Romania has launched all its sunflower processing enterprises and is taking a leading role in Europe in the sale of oil,” the agricultural expert noted.
According to him, with the results of 2023, Romania became the main buyer of oil crops from Ukraine for the first time. It accounted for 17.7% of exports. In second place is Turkey, which accounted for approximately 15%. China is in third place with 11.1%.
Poland, which in 2022 topped the list of countries to which Ukrainian oil was exported the most, slipped to fourth place.
“If the Polish authorities were guided solely by economic calculations, they could earn from Ukrainian agricultural products, the way Romania and Turkey earn. By the way, thanks to Ukrainian grain, Turkey now plays a leading role in flour production,” added Ivan Stefanyshyn.
