According to the latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the country exported 82.8 thousand tons of chickpeas and 102.6 thousand tons of lentils in October, reports Grain Central .
At the same time, it is noted that the volume of shipments of chickpeas increased by 49% compared to September, which is due to the arrival of a new crop of chickpeas on the market. The main volumes of Australian pulses in October were shipped to Pakistan (42 thousand tons), UAE (20 thousand tons) and Bangladesh (6.3 thousand tons).
At the same time, October lentil exports fell 43% compared to September, reflecting a reduction in lentil stocks before the new pulse crop becomes available for shipment. In October, Australia exported the main volumes of lentils to India (62 thousand tons), Sri Lanka (14.3 thousand tons) and Pakistan (11.5 thousand tons).
It is also noted that currently the chickpea harvesting campaign in Australia is almost over. At the same time, the quality of legumes is assessed as excellent.
